Mac OS/X --- Windows --- Linux

Mac OS/X

Download: Latest for OS/X.

Install: If the dmg file that is downloaded does not automatically open, double click on it to 'mount' it in the finder. Drag the folder it contains wherever you want on your disk. You can rename this folder if you want, but you should keep all the contents together in a single folder.

Launch: Simply double click on the WilmaDesktop.app icon contained in that folder.

Uninstall: Toss the Wilma folder in the trash. Indexes will be in a Wilma folder inside your Library folder. You can toss this too if you aren't going to be reinstalling Wilma. The same goes for files beginning with com.redtree.wilma in the Preferences folder, which is in your Library folder.

Windows

Download: (Note Wilma does not support Windows 98 or ME) Latest for Windows.

Install: Double click on the downloaded zip file and then drag the folder it contains wherever you want on your disk. You can rename this folder if you want, but you should keep all the contents together in a single folder. For example if the download file was named Wilma-1.0.1-B50.zip and it contained a folder named Wilma-1.0.1.B50, you could just drag that contained folder into your C:\Program Files folder and once you were satisfied it was working correctly, rename it to just Wilma, possibly removing or renaming any older version with that name.

Launch: Simply double click on the WilmaDesktop.exe icon contained in that folder.

Uninstall: Toss the Wilma folder in the trash. Indexes will be in a Wilma folder inside your Applications Data folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data). You can toss this too if you aren't going to be reinstalling Wilma. The same goes for files beginning with com.redtree.wilma in the same Applications Data folder. Wilma does not use the system registry at all.

Linux

Download: Latest for Linux.

Install: Expand the downloaded tar.gz file (for instance with tar -xzf filename) move the folder it contained wherever you want on your disk. You can rename this folder if you want, but you should keep all the contents together in a single folder. One complication with the Linux version is that you must tell Linux how to find the shared object file wilmalib.so that is in the installed Wilma folder. If you have root privileges, you could put this in a system library directory (/usr/lib), but it is probably better to just add the installed Wilma directory to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable for your account. To avoid having to do this after each login, you could do this in the appropriate profile files.

Launch: Run the WilmaDesktop executable contained in that folder.

Uninstall: Remove the installed Wilma directory, plus the .wilma directory and any file beginning with com.redtree.wilma from your home directory if you aren't going to be installing Wilma again.
