Before you can search for anything with Wilma, you must have it create at least one index. When you start WilmaDesktop for the first time, it will prompt you to name your first index and then will present you with a properties dialog for that index. This is where you will define what files should be indexed as well as some other options such as how numbers and accented characters are handled.

When the index properties have been defined, you click on the Build button on the dialog to launch the indexer in the background. When this is complete you will be prompted to load the new index into the desktop and you will be ready to start searching. This can be done by either typing the search phrase into the find box on the tool bar followed by the enter key, or by clicking on the downward facing triangle beside the find box to bring up the search dialog for more advanced search options.
