It's Bad

Its the World Cup Freestyle competition in Fernie, thats why its raining. It always seems to rain during the World Cup. But the World Cup came and went and conditions remain well, bad. The so called pineapple express has done us in for now. We need snow in emergency quantities. I would say at least a meter to start. There is still limited skiing on the few runs that remain open, but I didnt partake. If ever we needed a famous world class dump to rescue this year, it is now. We wait. Take time to sacrifice a pair of skis to the gods, chant a snow prayer and dig out pictures of previous powder days and concentrate your thoughts on better days to come. By longtime resident's accounts and folklore these are the worst ski conditions since 1974 at this time of year.

Having said all this, we came across some hottubing Aussies who were in surprisingly high spirits, even for Aussies. They were celebrating being in Fernie instead of Thailand, where they thought of going this season. There were alot of people here and a lot of great house parties and bar parties going on. John Eaves' band was in town at the Fernie Hotel.

Im going for a run now.
