Craig's FAR Update 2002/1/25:
Damp, Blinding, Limited and Heavy, but otherwise not Bad

It was raining at the house this morning and while the flakes started just above the base area, they were the type that has a psychopathic attraction to goggle lens. All of Cedar, including Cedar Ridge and all of Lizard down to well below the bottom of Sunny Side was closed, as of course was Currie, although I heard Anaconda was open. Upper North Ridge was populated with moguls that felt like snow covered garbage cans - god knows I couldn't see them - and on the lower approaches to the bottom of the Boom Chair, the wet snow had packed into invisible speed bumps guaranteed to loosen fillings.

Despite all of that, there was some quite good skiing to be had off piste. The snow ranged from dense to heavy as you proceeded down, but remained manageable. Things seemed even better on the new side, where there was more area to spread folks around and the extra elevation probably didn't hurt either. Not exactly a stellar day, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be as I rode up the chair.

At 1:20 it is 1 C at the house and seems to be starting to snow.
