Glorious Day for the PPP

It was an absolutely beautiful penultimate day of the ski season. Bright sunshine and warm temperatures made for great spring skiing. The big event today was the Powder, Peddle, Paddle race which has a free for all ski race from top to bottom, followed by a bike into town, a paddle back down the river and finally a run from the river back up to the base of the ski area.

The cool temperatures this morning meant the ski race conditions were firm and fast, but not really icy. Here the contestants line up for an uphill race to their skis (right beside me) before heading down.

The first skier gets away and heads across Cedar Bowl.

Looks cold doesn't it?

Not cold enough to prevent the "Hewers of Wood" team from also becoming "Drinkers of Water" as Geoff and Willard decide to take a break.

The afternoon skiing was typical very nice spring stuff. Most of it was with Tara (my 5 year old), but Davin (my 9 year old) and I did do a quick trip down Cedar Ridge and although skiable, it had some pretty slick spots. Stay in the sun though and it was great. Hopefully tomorrow will be equally nice so we can close out a great season in style.
