Craig's Report - March 27, 1997 - 3:30 PM

The warm weather continues and it was sunny this morning. However by the time I went out after lunch, the sun was only occasionally able to peek out around some ominous looking clouds. All the slopes with southern exposures were soft and in places where there wasn't a lot of traffic but lots of sun, it was very soft. Below where I took this picture on Steep and Deep the snow was mushy and sun rotted. This made every turn something of an adventure and definitely qualified as aerobic exercise for me at least. Lots of fun though.

Cedar Ridge was the only slope that I noticed that still sported ice closure signs although upper Easter might have been a bit crisp. I did try part of lower Easter and it was quite skiable and although stiff it held a good edge. Virtually everything else was pretty soft although by the time I left some of the upper stuff was just beginning to stiffen a bit. All in all it was pretty good by spring skiing standards.

It is currently 6 C under cloudy skies at the house.
